Accessibility Statement

Our commitment
Calgary Carpentry is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or who need reduced motion.
Conformance target
This site is built to target WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Accessibility was designed in rather than retrofitted, and accessibility defects are treated as release-blocking rather than as enhancements.
What we have done
- Colour contrast. Every foreground and background pairing used in the interface has been contrast-tested. The lowest ratio shipped is 5.32:1, above the 4.5:1 required for normal text.
- Keyboard operation. Everything is operable by keyboard. A “skip to content” link is the first focusable element, focus is always visible, and the mobile menu traps focus while open and returns it to the toggle on close.
- Semantic structure. Correct landmarks, one H1 per page, and a logical heading order. FAQ accordions use native disclosure elements, so they work without JavaScript and expose correct state to assistive technology.
- Forms. Every field has a programmatic label. Errors are associated with their field, announced, and never discard what you typed.
- Motion. The scroll-driven video on the homepage is disabled entirely when your system requests reduced motion, and a static image is shown instead. All other animation is suppressed under the same preference.
- Zoom and reflow. The site is usable at 200% zoom and reflows to a 320px viewport without horizontal scrolling or loss of content. Wide tables scroll within their own container rather than forcing the page sideways.
- Touch targets. Interactive controls meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 target size guidance, with adequate spacing.
Known limitations
We test with automated tooling plus manual keyboard and screen-reader passes, but no site is perfect and automated tools alone are not sufficient. If you encounter a barrier, we want to know — a specific report is far more useful to us than a general audit.
Reporting a problem
Contact us through our contact page or email PLACEHOLDER@calgarycarpentry.ca. Please describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or browser you were using if you know it. We will acknowledge your report and tell you what we intend to do about it.
Alternative ways to reach us
If any part of this website prevents you from getting in touch, you can always telephone us instead. We are happy to take enquiries and give estimates by phone.
